We are situated on the corner of Hilderthorpe Rd and Bridge St. Opening in 2005 we have had excellent reviews from The Sunday Times and The Hull and East Riding Mail as well as winning the Seafish award. We believe fresh fish should be served uncomplicated and speak for itself. We serve a wide range of seasonal fish and seafood as well as traditional fish and chips. We fry in traditional beef dripping and use a secret recipe to ensure the perfect crisp batter. We are licensed and have a great wine list. We open for lunch and dinner, please telephone to book.
The owner, James Goacher is passionate about seafood and the conservation of sea stocks. James comes from a fishing background, his grandfather worked for Boggs, who were a large fish wholesaler and had fishing boats in Bridlington harbour. His father Michael and uncle Alfie were fish merchants and through these connections James is able to source great fresh seafood. James worked for his father's business Southbay Fisheries buying fresh fish from Whitby to Hull fish markets until opening a takeaway fish and chip shop in 2003 on Bridlington's southshore. naked fish opened in June 2006 after a long refurbishment of a derelict building. He wanted to bring the fish that was being landed in Bridlington to the people living and visiting the town. He felt that there was a need for a good quality fish restaurant serving fresh food in an informal way. Selling the takeaway business to concentrate on the restaurant. James bases the special's board around what is in season and tries whenever possible to source ingredients from Bridlington. Bridlington lands the most shellfish in the UK and naked fish is proud to serve local crabs, lobsters and scallops. Our dover and lemon soles often come from local fishing boats and seabass is caught from Bridlington south beach.
Our herbs and salads are mostly organic. We are proud to be supplied by Greengrowers in Nafferton, this organic producer grows the herbs and salads on her farm in Nafferton on the Yorkshire Wolds.
We serve a variety of combos, the naked fish combo is a selection of breaded and battered white and shellfish. As well as surf and turfs - scampi and steak, and prawn and steak.
